The Pilates Method of conditioning, developed by Joseph Pilates over 50 years ago, strengthens and tones muscles, improves posture, increases flexibility, and promotes relaxation while training the mind and body to work together to achieve overall fitness.  The Pilates method focuses on strengthening your abdominals (core) and back muscles to build a strong foundation and encourage more efficient, coordinated movements of the extremities.  The unique system of Pilates exercise promotes balance of not only the mind and body but also muscular symmetry by lengthening tighter muscles while you strengthen weaker muscles.  Pilates exercises can be modified and are beneficial for the most elite athlete to a survivor of injury/illness.

Pilates Class Descriptions

Private Sessions

All private sessions will be tailored to the needs of the client and may be altered as needed.  These sessions may be used as a rehabilitative workout or an individualized fitness workout to focus on specific areas and/or needs.  Private sessions are available for 30 or 60 minutes.

Rehab Pilates will require a physician’s referral for Physical Therapy and Pilates.  Rehab Pilates involves modified Pilates core conditioning exercises along with manual therapy, muscle re-education, and balance and agility training as appropriate. Rehab Pilates is appropriate for the following conditions:
  • Back or neck pain
  • Arm or leg pain
  • Muscle strains
  • Scoliosis
  • Orthopedic conditions
  • Post surgical conditions
  • Urinary incontinence
  • Muscle weakness
  • Sports injuries
  • Nagging pain

Duet and Trio Sessions

Semi-private sessions that are tailored to the needs of the two-three clients using the Pilates equipment.  These sessions are for clients that have similar fitness goals and want to share a private session.  To participate in a session you must have a partner(s). 

Group Sessions

Combo Equipment class
These classes are a 50 minute session with up to 4 clients using the Reformers, Wunda Chairs and the Barrels.

Home Pilates Programs, Spanish Instruction, Gentle Pilates, Pilates for all ages and gift certificates available.
